SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — Kajang assemblyman David Cheong Kian Young has set his sights on developing more public facilities for the benefit of residents in his constituency this year.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat lawmaker said among the projects being lined up are the construction of public health clinics in locations like Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Sungai Sekamat and Sungai Kantan.

"We have already identified several locations as suitable for the development of these health clinics for public benefit, eliminating the need for them to travel far from their homes.

"We took into consideration several factors, including rural and highly-populated areas that are in need of these facilities. The matter is currenting under discussion," he said when contacted.

Cheong also shared that a survey he conducted earlier at the Kajang Hospital found several potholes on the roads there that could pose a danger to patients and the public.

"We will conduct immediate resurfacing works to ensure the roads in the hospital are safe.

"I also found issues concerning the roof of the hospital's Orthopedic Department, which is causing a nuisance to the patients and their guardians," particularly during rain and hot weather.

Separately, Cheong said his team is planning to develop a sheltered rest and recuperation area in Bandar Mahkota Cheras for the use of p-hailing riders.

"This lay-by is meant for food delivery riders to rest and have a comfortable shelter while waiting for orders."
