SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — The period leading up to the Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) 2023 intensifies as 272 booths have been fully reserved by publishing companies to promote and market their products.
Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said booth reservations at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre included 156 local and international publishing companies.
"The SIBF preparations have been quite good thus far. 20 booths were taken by international publishing companies, including those from Nepal, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, the Philippines, Australia, Korea, Turkey, and China.
"There are still several booths available, especially for small entrepreneurs conducting business, with 63 booths reserved," she said after the launch of Yayasan Perpustakaan Raja Tun Uda yesterday.

Mastura added that promotional materials like posters have been distributed to schools statewide, including other public libraries and agencies, to encourage more participation in SIBF, which will occur from December 1 to December 10.
"I invite everyone to join and enliven SIBF and not miss the opportunity to participate in the lucky draw when you spend at least RM30," she said.
In addition to the lucky draw for a RM500 cash prize, other exciting activities include book sales and attractive discounts.
Held for the first time last year, SIBF is a continuation of the Selangor Book Fair organised by the state government for the past 16 years.
SIBF 2022 saw 225 local and international exhibitors participate, including from the United Kingdom, Turkey, South Korea, Egypt, Indonesia, Singapore, and China.
The event recorded over 200,000 visitors attending, with total sales exceeding RM5 million.
