HDC to develop new digital platform for faster halal certification process

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 — The Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC) plans to develop a new digital platform for halal certification, in line with the government's aim in Budget 2024 to trim the processing period from 51 to 30 days.

Chairman Khairul Azwan Harun said by integrating current applications and systems, the new platform will help expedite the process from pre-certification to approval and post-certification.

"HDC is confident the shortened approval period to 30 days, as indicated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, can be implemented," he said in a statement.

During the tabling of Budget 2024 yesterday, Anwar said HDC, together with the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), will lead efforts to simplify the entire halal certification process, especially for halal product exporters.

Khairul said HDC will work closely with Jakim and related agencies to speed up the process to increase the trade value of Malaysia's halal product exports to the global market and expand the total number of exporting companies with halal certificates.
