SIPITANG, Sept 7 — The pesta lambaian (hand-waving) to welcome and see off the departure of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and the entire Kembara Kenali Borneo convoy remained lively despite the heavy rain in Sipitang and Beaufort areas today.

Many residents who live near the southwest part of the Land Below The Wind refuse to miss the opportunity to bid farewell to their Majesties on its fifth and last day Sabah.

A Bernama reporter who is also part of the convoy saw for himself the joy and excitement of the local community and among the lively scenes recorded was when the convoy passed through Jalan Haji Akhbar Khan to Jalan Sipitang-Beaufort stretching almost two km where along the shoulder of the road was lined with people at about 3.30pm.

The same thing was also felt when the convoy travelled from the Beaufort district to this district where people from various walks of life were seen getting drenched from the rain but did not even budge from waving enthusiastically to the royal entourage.

Both Their Majesties are heading to Lawas Waterfront in Sarawak and before entering Brunei.

The Kembara Kenali Borneo tour from September 3 to September 13 starts in Tawau, Sabah, and ends in Telok Melano, Sarawak, a distance of 2,154 km along the Pan Borneo Highway that connects Sabah, Sarawak, and Brunei.
