SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — The public casting their ballots tomorrow should do so for a coalition capable of bringing progress and maintaining Selangor's stability.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the Unity Government in the state has achieved remarkable accomplishments over the past five years, including weathering all sorts of crises.
"One has the choice between a coalition that will continue Selangor's success, excellence, and progress. Or a coalition solely interested in using the state elections to create political instability in the nation, who have proven to lack new ideas and plans for Selangor, our beloved state.
"For the future of our beloved Selangor, the future of our children and generations to come, vote for the candidates of Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional (BN)," he said during a special address to the state's residents, which was broadcasted live today.
Several days ago, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, repeated the allegation the Federal government will be toppled if Perikatan Nasional (PN) wins all six states in tomorrow's polling day.
At the end of June, Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali similarly claimed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be removed from office if PN wins in Selangor.
Therefore, Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Harapan chairman, urged voters to fulfil their responsibilities with full accountability.
"We must set aside emotions and egos when choosing the state's leadership. Never let hatred influence us. This is not a zero-sum game (menang dapat semua, kalah hilang semua).
"Let us not harbour grudges and sow the seeds of hatred because of the elections. Similarly, do not harbour ill notions against the beliefs of our fellow brothers.
Malaysian politics has been in turmoil following the Sheraton Move in February 2020. This led to administrative changes in several states and the early dissolution of three State Legislative Assemblies between July 2020 and January 2022.
