PDRM to use RM150 mln allocation to upgrade old quarters

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will use part of the RM150 million allocation announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on July 15, to restore and upgrade old quarters, to provide better living spaces for police personnel.

Bukit Aman Logistics and Technology Department director Datuk Seri Sahabudin Abd Manan said the restoration process will include expanding smaller units into bigger ones to enable policemen and their families to live in a more spacious, comfortable and conducive house.

“PDRM will be turning old PDRM quarters that have two rooms per house into four-room houses in stages from this year, according to its financial capacity,” he told Bernama recently.

Sahabudin said currently a total of 286 units across the country have chosen for renovation by combining two house units into one.

"Among the quarters chosen for renovation are Lenggong Police Station Quarters, Gerik in Perak, Mambau Police Station Quarters in Negeri Sembilan, Wakaf Mek Zainab Quarters in Kota Bahru, Kelantan and Block D Quarters, Southeast Brigade in Kuantan, Pahang."
