SHAH ALAM, July 28 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has established a One-Stop Abandoned Vehicle Centre to encourage the public to surrender their unused private vehicles voluntarily.

Council President Ani Ahmad said doing so will indirectly help to control the proliferation of abandoned vehicles in public places.

"MPAJ is the first local authority in Malaysia to implement such an initiative.

This will also contribute to creating a better environment in the Ampang Jaya area," she said after the full MPAJ meeting, earlier today.

Ani added that prior to this, management process to dispose of derelict vehicles took between six to twelve months. With this one-stop vehicle centre, the process can now be expedited to between two to four months.
