SHAH ALAM, July 23 — Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub has passed away tonight at the age of 61.
His press secretary Syakirin Husnal in a statement said the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister passed away at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar, Kedah, at 9.23pm.
She said Salahuddin's remains will be brought back to his mother’s home in Kampung Serkat (Kopi Tenggek) in Tanjung Piai, Johor.
The minister's office will provide further information on the funeral arrangements.
Salahuddin, who was the Pulai MP, was rushed to the hospital in Alor Setar on Friday (July 21) where doctors confirmed he had suffered a brain haemorrhage, and underwent immediate surgery.
He was placed under observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following the surgery as he was in critical condition.
Salahuddin leaves behind his wife Datin Fatimah Taha and six children.
