KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — A total of 333 Civil Defence Auxiliary (CDA) teams have been registered from Jan 12 to yesterday, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
“Based on current statistics, there is a total of 333 CDA teams comprising 298 teams in the Civil Defence Emergency Response Team (CDA-ERT) cluster and 35 teams from other clusters,” he said in a statement today.
Armizan said the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) had introduced CDA, which includes 12 specialisation clusters, to strengthen the functions of Civil Defence as stated in the Civil Defence Act 1951 (Act 221).
The CDA can contribute through its primary functions, such as training and expertise.
“It is hoped the CDA will strengthen the APM in fulfilling the agenda of increasing civil preparedness and building national resilience,” he added.
Earlier, Armizan attended the closing ceremony of the national-level CDA seminar, which was attended by APM officers and volunteers, CDA personnel and disaster management agencies from the government sector, statutory bodies and non-governmental organisations.
