SHAH ALAM, July 10 — The Shah Alam City Council's (MBSA) Car-Free Day programme at Dataran Kemerdekaan MBSA in Section 14 yesterday was warmly received with over 1,500 visitors flocking to the site.
Its corporate and public relations division said for this edition, MBSA held an 'Adopt-a-Cat' programme, where visitors could choose to adopt stray cats as pets.
"A total of 10 cats were provided, all of which have been vaccinated and undergone health checks.
"We aim to raise awareness within the local community and encourage continued cooperation from all quarters to be more responsible towards pets, for a clean and safe environment," said the council in a statement.
Adopt-a-Cat also included a 'Most Beautiful Cat' competition, offering a total cash prize of RM450 and a hamper.
Other exciting activities included the Shah Alam Recycle Fun Run with 500 participants, a Fun Walk, leisure cycling, aerobic exercises, and a combo performance by MBSA personnel.
Children also enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including a sports development clinic for silat, archery, a mini zoo, handicrafts, and a mobile library.
