SHAH ALAM, May 26 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has completed more than 70 per cent of the clean-up work at the illegal dumping in Batu 14, Kapar.
It said the site, which involved 11 landowners, borders the district of Kuala Selangor.
"On May 18, an operation was carried out following complaints from the public to put out a fire emanating from a pile of garbage, believed to be recycled plastic waste, in collaboration with the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.

"Asides from putting out the fire, the operation also included cleaning up rubbish piles, digging ditches, and closing the entrance (to the site) with concrete barriers. The council also cooperated with Selangor Environment Department on taking legal action, under the Environmental Quality Act 1974," MPK said in a Facebook post.
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) also took part by installing closed-circuit cameras and increasing surveillance using drones, particularly in areas near transmission poles.
The council reminded landowners to remain constantly aware of the current condition of their lands, and that legal action may be imposed if owners fail to report any illegal waste disposal activities.
