PETALING JAYA, May 12 — The flood mitigation project to overcome the problem of overflowing drain water affecting the homes of residents along Jalan SS 2/6 has now been completed.

Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei said the upgrade works by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), which began at the end of August 2022, were fully completed in January.

"The problem arose from the area of the residents' houses, which was low enough to the point that drain water could overflow into their homes whenever heavy rainfall occurred.

"To this, MBPJ upgraded the downstream area along Jalan SS 2/9 (Masjid Aminah Al-Mukhairi) and constructed a barrier wall to prevent the drain water from overflowing," she said during a press conference, earlier today.

A bypass was also built on the drain along Jalan SS 2/9, to reduce the high flow of water from the commercial centre area (upstream) along Jalan SS 2/10.

Lim added the project, with an allocation of nearly RM100,000, took place at an open drain channel measured at 500 metres long.
