SHAH ALAM, April 7 — Tourism Selangor is looking to strengthen the cruise tourism segment, so as to attract more tourists to the state via the Port Klang Cruise Terminal.

Its chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad said the agency will take part in a series of international tourism trade fairs, to realise this objective.

"In 2022, a total of 141 ships carried approximately 342,721 passengers to the terminal, which is the preferred cruise stop of notable cruise lines including Genting Dream Resorts World Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Regal Cruises, Star Cruises, and the Royal Caribbean International.

"As such, we are confident that Selangor is capable of continuing its efforts in attractting international tourists, especially through the Port Klang Cruise Terminal, which is equipped with the latest facilities," he said in a statement.

Azrul Shah added that Tourism Selangor has recently concluded its participation in the Seatrade Cruise Global 2023 event, held in Florida, the United States from March 27 to March 30, alongside 500 other exhibitors.

Their participation was to strengthen the state's cruise tourism segment

He said the participation is to strengthen the state's cruise tourism segment, with experts and thousands of professional cruise members in tandem on the same narrative.

"With the collaboration between Tourism Selangor and Tourism Malaysia, there will be more cross-promotion series, FAM Trips, sales missions, digital campaigns, and advertising with participating countries," Azrul Shah said.
