SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Subang Jaya state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze has widened her efforts to protect the environment by collecting leftover food from the USJ 4 Ramadan bazaar.

She said the collection, carried out in cooperation with the What A Waste company, can help to reduce carbon production that has an impact on climate change and global warming.

"On March 29, we managed to collect 300kg of food, which can produce 702 kg of carbon. Doing so will help us save the earth.

"This simultaneously helps us to reduce food waste, as it is donated to low-income families, communities and welfare homes in the area," Ng said.

She was speaking at the campaign's launch, in conjunction with the Subang Jaya City Council's cashless Ramadan bazaar programme yesterday.

During the programme, a total of 100 visitors who brought their own food containers were given RM10 food coupons.

On March 17, Ng and What A Waste collected 177kg of leftover food during three days of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting.
