SHAH ALAM, March 24 — The Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) is inviting members of the public, particularly history aficionados, to visit Muzium Insitu Jugra in Kampung Permatang Pasir, Banting.

The museum contains a diverse array of information on the history of the Selangor Sultanate in Kuala Langat, as well as archaeological findings like prison structures, mini courts, and old wells.

Formerly known as Penjara Lama Jugra, it was originally a police station built in 1878 during the reign of Sultan Abdul Samad ibni Almarhum Tengku Abdullah, serving as an administrative and penal centre based on the British judicial system

The building was gazetted as a historic land site on November 19, 2002, and has a display of prison equipment, an old well, and traces of archaeological digs.

Entrance is free, with three exhibition rooms, toilets, prayer rooms and facilities for the disabled.

Visiting hours are from 9.30am to 5.30pm (Saturday to Thursday), while it is temporarily closed from 12.30pm to 2.45pm on Friday.
