SHAH ALAM, March 17 — The Selangor government will revise the related conditions to standardise, simplify application matters and encourage the registration of home care centres.

State executive councillor for women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the existing conditions set by local authorities are too strict and follow the same standards as kindergartens (Taska).

She also said that an engagement session with local authorities and related agencies was held recently to identify issues of guidelines, planning and technical requirements.

“This engagement session is the state government’s initial initiative to find a suitable alternative to simplify and standardise the application requirement for home daycare operators covering all aspects,” she said in answer to Subang Jaya state assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session today.

Meanwhile, Dr Siti Mariah suggested that the Ministry of Women and Family Development remove nurseries that operate at home from Act 308 of the Child Care Park Act 1984.

“This is due to the rule being only allocated to institutional nurseries, workplace nurseries and community nurseries,” the Seri Serdang state rep said.
