Missing crew Mohammad Sudeh last contacted family early this month

SANDAKAN, Jan 18 — Mohammad Sudeh Sudin, 20, a crew member of the cargo vessel which went missing in Indonesian waters recently, last contacted his family earlier this month.

His mother Ratna Abu, 53, relayed this to Sandakan MP Vivian Wong Shir Yee when she visited the victim's family home here today.

She said since then, the family had not received any news from Mohammad Sudeh.

"After that, the victim's family received a report regarding the incident that happened to their son and his fellow crew members," Wong said in a statement.

The media had tried to interview the family but they had requested to be given space and privacy to deal with this challenge.

“We hope and pray that the search and rescue operation will go smoothly and be fruitful. We hope the family can remain strong and that all the crew members will be found safe,” she said.

On January 9, the Malaysian-registered MV Dai Cat 06 carrying 527 metal pipes worth RM726,205 with five crew members comprising three locals and two Indonesians was reported missing in Indonesian waters.
