Team Selangor volunteers undergo training with APM

SHAH ALAM, Jan 18 — Some 200 Team Selangor volunteers underwent basic disaster training throughout last year, in preparations to face flood incidents.

Its chief secretariat Syahaizel Keman said the training was conducted in stages alongside the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), and is meant to provide volunteers with exposure to the right moves and techniques during floods.

“Members are given basic training on how to deal with both flood and post-flood incidents. This can help smoothen rescue operations carried out by the authorities.

“Some of them have also been trained to operate boats. This is part of the preparation in the event they are required to operate boats during an emergency,” he said when contacted today.

Previously, the Selangor Volunteers team (Serve Rescue) also underwent training with the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, to prepare for flood disasters.
