SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 — Nearly 100 schools have received assistance from the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI this year to upgrade their facilities for the benefit of the students.

Its Corporate Social Responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the assistance, which involved an allocation of RM1.5 million, was implemented annually to ensure the best facilities could be provided to selected schools.

“Last week, we handed over a donation of RM10,000 to Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Kelana in Petaling Jaya to help cover the cost of building a walkway canopy.

“Such an initiative would provide comfort to both parents and students when sending and picking up their children, especially during rainy days,” he told SelangorKini.

Earlier this year, Ahmad Azri said MBI allocated RM1 million for schools this year, involving RM500,000 for infrastructure development and the remaining amount will be channelled for the Parents and Teacher Association (PIBG) programmes.

Last year, MBI spent RM30 million on various programmes including the Data Internet Selangor, the Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme, transport rebates to vaccination centres, Back to School programmes and events related to festive celebrations such as Deepavali and Christmas.
