SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — Four of Selangor's districts are expected to see heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms until this evening, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a statement issued at 2.40pm, the agency said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Sepang.
"Other states and territories which will also see strong weather include Perlis, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Labuan.
"Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), and Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim) will also undergo inclement weather," it said.
Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Kuantan, Bera and Rompin), and Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi) is expected to see strong weather as well.
In East Malaysia, Sarawak's districts and areas include Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Mukah (Mukah), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang.
In Sabah, they are Pedalaman (Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Beaufort) and Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran).
The weather is expected to persist until 6pm.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
