KLANG, Oct 23 — The assessment tax exemption for village houses and low-cost housing will be continued next year as a part of the Selangor government’s efforts to lighten the load on its citizens.
The exemption incentive on the assessment tax had been ongoing since 2016.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said that the initiative can be done despite losing one of the state’s revenue sources.
“The decision to continue the tax exemption was done a month ago. Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), next year we will continue to waive the assessment tax for village houses and low-cost housing.
“Even though we lost one of the avenues to collect revenue for the state, we have other means as a backup. In addition, we were also able to manage the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said during the launch of the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow, here today.
On September 15, Amirudin announced that the Selangor government will continue exempting assessment tax for low-cost and traditional village houses and trading licence fees for small traders for 2023.
He said the exemption value, which stands at RM68.74 million, was among the efforts to help lighten the load for the people of Selangor.
