SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds in several parts of Selangor with some areas lasting until 6pm, and others until 7pm.
In a statement issued at 3.50pm, inclement weather conditions are expected in Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang until 6pm, while it will last in Klang, Kuala Langat and Hulu Langat until 7pm.
The agency said similar weather conditions are expected in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Negeri Sembilan (Seremban and Kuala Pilah) until 6pm.

As for Baling in Kedah, Hulu Perak in Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang (Lipis, Raub, Bentong and Kuantan), and Jelebu in Negeri Sembilan, they will see strong weather until 7pm.
“Meanwhile, in Sarawak, the weather will affect Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Kapit (Song and Kapit) and Bintulu until 7pm.
“In Sabah, similar conditions are expected at Pedalaman (Nabawan), Pantai Barat (Ranau and Kota Belud), Tawau (Tawau), Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, Kinabatangan and Beluran) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Pitas) until 7pm as well,” it said.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
