SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has tabled its budget totalling RM579.38 million for next year’s expenditure, said its deputy mayor Mohd Rashidi Ruslan.

Out of the total, RM435.8 million or 75.2 per cent is allocated for operating expenditure while RM124.5 million (or 24.8 per cent) is for developments.

“The operation expenditure has increased by RM46.1 million, compared to last year. This includes municipal expenditure, ditches, roads, and landscaping.

“Approximately RM74.36 million of the deficit will be borne using our reserves,” he said after tabling the 2023 Budget, themed Shah Alam Lestari dan Tahan Uji (Sustainable and Resilient Shah Alam), at Wisma MBSA earlier today.

Mohd Rashidi added the council also expects an increase in revenue by RM17.6 million to RM505 million, as opposed to RM487.3 million last year.

“Tax revenue is expected to contribute some RM338.4 million or 67 per cent from the total revenue, with an estimated increase of RM7.3 million compared to the current year.

“Non-tax revenue is anticipated to contribute 31 per cent or RM157.05 million from the total revenue, which translates into an increase of RM10.39 million of 7.1 per cent compared to last year’s estimation,” he said.
