KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari presented a gold medal to Selangor swimmer Terence Ng Shin Jian, who won the men's 200-meter freestyle event at the 20th Malaysia Games (Sukma).

He expressed satisfaction with the medals collected by the swimming team to date, which stands at one gold and two silver.

"Alhamdulilah, swimming as with the previous games was one of the sports which contributed gold (to Selangor). However, this time the competition from several states was quite stiff.

"With only a few days left, we hope this sport can contribute a few more gold medals as with previous achievements," Amirudin said.

He was speaking during the medal presentation ceremony, held at National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil, here yesterday.

Ng garnered gold at 51.34 seconds, edging out Federal Territories athlete Bryan Leong Xin Ren in second place, and Penang athlete Chris Chew Vi Min in third place.

The Menteri Besar spent over an hour supporting the Selangor swimming athletes, and presented medals to the winners.
