BAM, BAT ink MoU to soar higher in 2022 - 2024

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at propelling both countries to greater heights in badminton for 2022 - 2024.

The MoU is a win-win situation for them and BAT as both sides harbour similar ambitions of being dominant forces in world badminton including striking gold at the Olympic Games, according to a statement from BAM today.

The MoU will also act as a platform for a strategic relationship that will result in cooperation in various aspects from sports science and training of athletes, coaches and officials to forging stronger relations.

BAM president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said today’s ceremony was an important occasion for the trajectory of badminton’s development in Malaysia as it prepared for the country’s ultimate objective of sealing the country’s first-ever gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics and winning the Thomas Cup in the same year, slated to be held in China.

“We will promote exchange and forge even closer relations through the signing of this historic MoU. Through this win-win partnership, we will have an even more comprehensive and strategic relationship,” he said.

Mohamad Norza expressed his appreciation and thanked BAT president Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul for the strategic alliance and hoped that this relationship would be beneficial for both associations.
