KUALA LANGAT, Sept 2 — The state government is committed to rebranding all public libraries in stages, so as to provide comfort to its visitors.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari around 65 of the 104 public libraries in the state have been upgraded since 2016, with the aim of cultivating knowledge among society.

"Rebranding the libraries under the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) is not solely limited to their exteriors and interiors, but also to fill them with various meaningful activities.

"As such, our policy of ensuring none are left behind forms the basis of the state government's staunch adherence in ensuring every community group is not left out, including special-needs children in Selangor," he said.

Amirudin was speaking at the officiation ceremony for the rebranding of the Sultan Abdul Samad Library earlier today.

Also in attendance was the state executive councillor for women and family development Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, and PPAS director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad.

The 49-year-old library building reopened in April this year after it was first closed in March 2019 for upgrade works at a cost of over RM3 million.

The Sultan Abdul Samad Library is now equipped with various modern facilities including a cafeteria, a seminar room, a creative zone, a multimedia room to organise various activities, as well as a new slide in the building nearly 15 feet high.
