SHAH ALAM, Aug 23 — Seven districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 11am today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a warning issued at 7.50am on Facebook, the agency said the districts include Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.
MetMalaysia also forecasted similar weather patterns for other states and territories in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Melaka and Penang.
“Other areas affected include Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang and Kuala Muda) and Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru),” said MetMalaysia.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
