SUBANG JAYA, Aug 21 — The Borneo Cultural Market in Seri Kembangan and the Bangi Golf Resort can potentially become tourism hubs for Selangor, attracting more visitors to the state.

However, the market's chairman Nelson Entap said they will require support from various parties, particularly to provide infrastructure for tourists' convenience.

"The number of visitors is on the rise, and the current location is unable to accommodate the swelling numbers. As such, we need a locality with a wider space as well as a nearby hall to carry out cultural activities.

"Once these facilities are completed, the market can be opened more frequently. Perhaps thrice weekly compared to only on Saturdays for now," he said to SelangorKini.

Entap said the two markets involve over 70 traders selling various products, including traditional foods from Sabah and Sarawak.

"The traders also sell traditional clothes and handicrafts from these two states. In so doing, it also helps the people of the Peninsula get to know the culture of Sabah and Sarawak," he said.

Earlier on, the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation's (Pekawanis) president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad attended a walkabout programme organised by the market.

The wife of Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari also handed over offers to join the Selangor Platform (Plats) to 54 market traders.

All the traders additionally received Data Internet Selangor benefits, to facilitate their businesses when using Plats.
