KLANG, Aug 14 — The state government has allocated RM6 million to repair facilities at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) in Selangor as part of its effort to upgrade the quality of education for the Indian community.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said as of now nearly 96 SJKT have benefitted from the aid programme with some schools receiving up to RM200,000.

“The distribution process is underway. This year, we completed the application process in May and June, however, there are a few schools that have yet to receive the aid.

“We are now looking into the application from schools that have yet to receive the aid due to technical issues, to ensure it will be ready for the second phase of disbursement in September. As we want to provide comfort and increase the quality of learning in schools,” he said when officiating the Piala Muhibbah Klang kavadi competition at Kompleks Sukan Andalas, here today.

In May, Amirudin informed that a total of RM26.5 million will be channelled to upgrade the school’s infrastructure in the state.

The aids are reserved for schools that do not receive full assistance from the Federal government.
