SHAH ALAM, Aug 3 — The First Selangor Plan (RS-1) tabled last week will look at upgrading childcare centres and kindergartens to become an important support system for women.
State executive councillor for urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail said the five-year development plan will turn Selangor into a women-friendly state equipped with various amenities and specific facilities.
She was speaking at the winding-up session on RS-1 at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here yesterday.
Rodziah added the plan also emphasises gender mainstreaming and equality, as well as a focus on ensuring 30 per cent women participation in Selangor’s administration as policy and decision makers.
"Selangor remains committed to women's issues through several programmes and initiatives that touch on the aspects of assistance, support and empowerment.
“The state government is also working to provide a support system to help women continue to actively contribute to the state development, either through employment or other sectors,” she said.
The plan, tabled by Amirudin on July 27, takes into account the implementation aspects of the comprehensive policies, projects and initiatives between the state and the Federal government.
He said Selangor’s efforts will not set aside the five-year planning under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) which is still ongoing and bringing an impact to the state.
Amirudin added that RS-1 is designed to deal with the major global challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine War as well as the Cold War between China and the United States.
