SHAH ALAM, July 23 — The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in seven districts in Selangor until 10pm today.
In a statement issued at 7.15pm, MetMalaysia said the districts are Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
It said that a similar weather condition will also be experienced in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and seven other states namely Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling, Perak (Larut, Matang Dan Selama and Hulu Perak), Pahang (Bentong and Maran), Negeri Sembilan (Tampin), Melaka and Johor (Tangkak).
“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or expected to take place for over an hour.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” the statement read.
