PETALING JAYA, July 15 — The Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) has been introducing new services for the past two years despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said some of the initiatives include borrowing of books via e-call (BooksFly2U), book processing (Backlog Project), 14 foreign languages classes (Language Discovery) and the Shah Alam Book Bazaar.

She said some of the additional services include book donations to the frontliners, hosting a hybrid Selangor Book Fair, and providing two studios for creative learning.

“Every action we take begins with an intention. We can't keep quiet while so many people are suffering from the pandemic.

“Even though they are only programmes in a smaller scale, we try to do our best without using a lot of resources,” she said when met after a dinner event in conjunction with the PPAS Golden Jubilee celebration at the Le Meridien Hotel, here last night.

Mastura added that the library had also given agencies access to meeting spaces and seminar rooms so they could conduct various human capital development initiatives.

“This is one of the ways we distribute the development funding we obtained from the state government for the benefit of the community.

“Due to this, we work to make the most use of the available library space.”
