SEREMBAN, July 9 — The Road Transport Department (RTD) intends to show appreciation to members of the public who channel information on road offences through the e-Aduan@JPJ application.

RTD deputy director-general (management) M Janagarajan said the matter had been discussed at the department level to encourage the community to help RTD detect traffic offences.

"We really hope for the cooperation of the community to be the ‘eyes' of RTD as well as to reduce the rate of road accidents.

"Since the introduction of e-Aduan@JPJ, we have received about 1,000 complaints nationwide, whereby this complaint system is much faster and easier," he told reporters after the 2022 Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Ops here last night.

He said through the application, the public could upload pictures or videos of traffic offences that occurred as well as inform the location and time of the offence for further investigation and action.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan RTD director Hanif Yusabra Yusuf said a total of 13 traffic offences were detected through an operation carried out by plainclothes officers from the department at Terminal One here on Thursday.

He said it involved four cases of continuously driving on the right-most lane, non-maintenance of log books (two), dropping off passengers at unauthorised places (two), smoking while driving (Public Service Vehicle driver's code of conduct) (one), continuously driving for more than 300 kilometres (one) and other offences (three).
