SHAH ALAM, July 1 — Celebrity Datuk Hans Isaac has won the contest for the Ampang PKR division chief post following the re-election held on Wednesday.
The actor-producer, whose full name is Gerald Hans Isaac, 51, had obtained 748 votes against his closest competitor, rapper Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman, also known as Altimet, 43, by a margin of two votes.
Astro Awani reported that Abdul Halim Mohamed Yusof withdrew, leaving the three remaining candidates, Abdullah Md Zain, Sam Hoo Wai, and Abdul Latif Shaari, with 101, 70, and 10 votes each.
After the PKR election was concluded last Friday, the party revoked Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok's victory in the contest for for the division head post as he was found to engage in vote-buying tactics during the campaign period.
The election committee had then scheduled re-election for June 29 at Dewan Dato' Ahmad Razali in Kg Baru Ampang.
