SHAH ALAM, June 18 — The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya until 1am tomorrow morning.
In the warning issued at 9.30pm on Facebook, the states of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka are also expected to see the wet weather.
It also warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms in several areas within the states of Kedah (Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan and Pendang), Perak (Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Bentong and Bera), Johor (Tangkak and Segamat) and Sarawak: Kapit (Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Belaga).
The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to take place for over an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued.
