SHAH ALAM, June 16 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) conducts frequent home-to-home inspections to prevent Aedes mosquito breeding sites.
Its Environment Health officer Zakaria Ismail said the action was taken in order to lower the incidence of dengue fever in the district.
“MPK has also been fogging the district's residential areas in stages during the day..
“We urge residents to help us keep their neighbourhoods clean so that Aedes mosquitoes don't breed there,” he told SelangorKini.
Zakaria said the regular checks were conducted in response to an increase in total dengue fever cases in the district, which has risen to 2,886 cases since early last year.
He said in the 22nd epidemiological week, 157 new dengue fever cases were registered, including two new cases in Taman Meru Indah last week.
“The current weather pattern is quite unpredictable. The growth of mosquitoes from eggs to adult mosquitoes can be accelerated by hot weather.
“Therefore, we would like to advise the residents to be more conscious of the situation and not allow their homes to become Aedes mosquito breeding grounds,” he said.
