SHAH ALAM, June 13 — Inclement weather is to be expected for four Selangor districts, which will last until this evening, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a statement issued at 4pm, it said thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains are expected in the Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat districts, until 7pm today.
“Other states and territories that will be affected include Kuala Lumpur, Pahang (Raub and Bentong), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah and Rembau) and Johor (Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru),” said the agency.
Meanwhile other states and localities that will experience same inclement weather until 6pm are Perak (Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron and Rompin), Johor (Segamat and Mersing), Sarawak: Limbang and Sabah: Pedalaman (Kuala Penyu and Beaufort), Pantai Barat (Papar, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Kudat (Kota Marudu).
The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
