PETALING JAYA, June 10 — The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) will issue a policy to resolve the issue of abandoned vehicles.
MBPJ deputy mayor Sharipah Marhaini Syed Ali said it was due to its lack of ability to provide more land to be used as a storage area.
“We are inspired by programmes like this to convert abandoned vehicles into assets using certain methods.
"Currently, discussions are being held with the Road Transport Department (RTD) and the Land Public Transport Agency (Apad), which will take several months before the policy can be issued," she said.
She said after the officiation of the PJ Eco Recycling Plaza's Open Day in conjunction with the World Environment Day 2022 on the PJ level here yesterday.
She added that among the places where many abandoned vehicles can be found are flats and low-cost housing areas.
"The abandoned vehicles reduced the number of parking spaces and disrupted the flow of traffic," she said.
