SHAH ALAM, June 2 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain, and strong winds warning in Sabak Bernam, which will last until 1pm this afternoon.
In a statement released on Facebook at 10.50am, the agency said similar weather pattern is also expected to hit other states including Perlis, Penang, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar and Kuala Muda), Perak (Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak), Sarawak: Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu) and Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu and Dalat) and Sabah: Pedalaman (Beaufort) and Pantai Barat (Papar).
The agency issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over one hour.
Thunderstorm warnings are short-term and valid within six hours after they are issued.
