DPIM to make formulate programme for easier halal certification

AMPANG, May 30 — The Selangor Dewan Perdagangan Islam Malaysia (DPIM) is currently in the process of formulating a programme to make it easier for entrepreneurs to obtain halal certificates.

Its chairman Mohd Yahya Mat Sahri said the decision was made after public complaints were made, particularly from traders.

"We will focus on consultation and training on how to get a more structured halal certificate.

"We will be the facilitator alongside Halal International Selangor (HIS) and in cooperation with the state executive councillor for Islamic religious affairs and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department," he said.

Mohd Yahya was speaking during the Majlis Silatulrahim Usahawan Di Aidilfitri event organised by DPIM Selangor in Ampang Indah earlier today.

He added that the programme will be implemented sometime this year and next year.

“In the near future, we will identify entrepreneurs and traders in all local authorities.

"Our focus is to ensure that every stall in Selangor, especially under the local authorities, can obtain a halal certificate," Mohd Yahya said.

He said DPIM will announce the participation method after further discussions with state executive councillor for Islamic religious affairs Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni and the local authorities.
