SHAH ALAM, May 26 — A total of 40 farmers in the Klang, Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam districts have received donations of tablets and laptops under the Agro Prihatin Programme.
State executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said the donation is for farmers, livestock breeders and agro-based industry players to improve their productivity, economic resilience and human capital in the sector.
“The purpose of this contribution is to help them and their children so they will not be left behind in catching up with current education and agriculture technology that even now evolves rapidly.
“Hopefully these donations will help to ease their burdens and provide the farmers opportunities to improve their lives in the future,” he said in a Facebook post.
Izham added the initiative is one of the nine clusters under the Selangor Agro Transformation Plan 2021 - 2025.
Last year, the state government allocated 1.5 million for the implementation of the Agro Prihatin programme by purchasing agricultural produce surplus and reselling it 50 per cent cheaper than market prices in selected locations.
