SHAH ALAM, April 21 — Three districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 10am today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a warning issued at 7.15am on Facebook, MetMalaysia said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.
The agency has also issued warnings of similar weather for the whole of Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.
MetMalaysia also predicted similar bad weather in several districts within the states of Perak (Muallim), Pahang (Bentong, Pekan and Rompin), Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Mersing, Pontian and Kota Tinggi) and Sabah: Kudat (Pitas and Kudat).
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
