SHAH ALAM, April 17 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds in the Klang Valley, as well as several parts of Kedah, Perak and Negeri Sembilan until 5pm today.
In the warning issued at 1.15pm, the agency said bad weather will occur in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor.
It forecasted similar weather conditions in several districts in Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap and Sik), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama) and Negeri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau).
MetMalaysia also predicted inclement weather until 4pm in parts of Johor (Kota Tinggi) and Sarawak: Sibu (Selangau), Mukah and Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu)
The agency issues a warning when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read.
