SHAH ALAM, March 26 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas of Selangor tonight.
In a Facebook post, MetMalaysia said the bad weather is expected to last until 1am tomorrow morning.
Selangor’s districts that will be affected include Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat.
The agency also forecasted similar weather for Kuala Lumpur and Perlis as well as several districts within Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu) and Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling).
Similar bad weather is also predicted in parts of Perak (Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Jeli and Gua Musang), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera and Pekan), Sarawak: Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Miri (Marudi) and Limbang as well as Sabah: Pedalaman (Sipitang, Tenom and Beaufort) and Pantai Barat (Papar)
“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” said MetMalaysia.
The warning was issued at 9.40pm today.
