SHAH ALAM, March 25 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecasted thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds will affect the districts of Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat this afternoon.
In a Facebook post, MetMalaysia said the bad weather is expected to last until 5pm today.
The agency also forecasted similar weather for Kuala Lumpur, Perlis as well as several districts within Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Sik and Baling) and Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim).
Other states expected to experience similar bad weather are Kelantan (Jeli and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun) and Johor (Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru).
“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour which are expected to occur over the one-hour duration.
“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it was issued,” said MetMalaysia.
The warning was issued at 1.40pm today.
