SHAH ALAM, March 22 — Seven districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 9am today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)
In a warning issued at 6.15am on Facebook, MetMalaysia said the districts include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
The agency has also issued warnings of similar weather for Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, in other states similar bad weather is also predicted for Pahang (Raub dan Bentong), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu) and Sabah: Kudat (Pitas and Kudat).
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
