SHAH ALAM, March 17 — Pakatan Harapan has decided it will not advise for the dissolution of the legislative assemblies in the states where it currently forms the ruling government, as the main focus is to help the people.

Its presidential council said the decision was taken in light of the people's economic situation which remains greatly affected.

"The council has decided the state governments of Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan which is under Pakatan Harapan will not dissolve their respective state assemblies until their terms end in 2023.

"Other factors behind this decision include major floods, the Covid-19 pandemic, reduced incomes, and the spiralling costs of living," it said in a statement.

Pakatan added it believes that all focus should be on saving the people and bringing back the economy.

The statement was signed by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, and UPKO president Datuk Seri Madius Tangau.

Yesterday Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the Selangor state government does not intend to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly if the 15th General Election (GE15) is held anytime soon.

He said this comes after discussions with the Menteri Besar of other Pakatan states, where they felt that it would be better and more effective if their respective administrations completes their full terms, sometime by April or May 2023.

However, Amirudin acknowledged the matter would depend on the consent of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
