SHAH ALAM, March 14 — The Smart Selangor C5i Operation Centre (SSOC) as the central command and control centre for disaster management must be strengthened and expanded, says Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.
The Selangor Ruler emphasised that certain aspects must be enhanced to ensure a better state of readiness when dealing with any disaster.
“This includes increasing the use of more automated command control and monitoring technologies as well as expanding the usage of digital infrastructure to 18 Land and District Offices throughout the state.
“This action would ensure that the search and rescue operations, the coordination of the evacuation process, and the delivery of food and clothes assistance could be done faster and more efficiently,” said the Selangor Rule in his royal address during the opening of the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 14th Selangor State Legislative Assembly, here today.
Meanwhile, Sultan Sharafuddin said that the Selangor Gigabit Network (SeGNet) digital infrastructure and the Smart Selangor Hybrid Cloud Data Centre (SSDC) have been well developed and must be able to be utilised by all government agencies, Land and District Offices and local authorities.
“This is crucial to ensure quicker and more effective data transmission. The state government should embrace the use of digital technologies in forecasting purposes to establish the Smart Disaster Management operation immediately.
“This action could assure Selangor’s position as a Resilient Economic Centre for Malaysia in the future,” he said.
The Selangor State Legislative Assembly reconvenes for ten days from today until March 25.
