SHAH ALAM, March 8 — Some 755 flood victims in Subang Jaya have been relocated to seven temporary relief centres (PPS) as of today.

Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the victims include 187 families from Kampung Bersatu, Kampung Baru Sri Puchong, Kampung Sri Andalas, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Kenangan and Kampung Sri Langkas.

He added the PPS were opened in Dewan Camelia Section 10 Putra Heights, Dewan Kg Seri Aman, Dewan Puchong Jaya, Dewan Puchong Utama, Dewan Batu 3 Shah Alam, Masjid Putra Height and Masjid Nur Huda.

“The awareness among residents has increased as they are willing to be transferred to the PPS immediately due to the trauma caused by the previous flood incident in December last year.

“However as the floodwaters subsided this morning, most of them have returned home and begun to clean their houses,” Johary said at a press conference after officiating the 2022 MBSJ Ramadan Bazaar Carnival at MBSJ Multipurpose Hall in Puchong Indah, here today.

He said the local authorities will continue operating the PPS until tomorrow as part of the preparation should the flood disaster recur.

“We have also purchased three additional boats which will be used to evacuate flood victims in the future, and we plan to add more boats whenever needed,” Johary said.

Heavy downpours which began from 3pm yesterday have caused flooding in several areas in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

As of 11am, a total of 1,215 flood victims have been evacuated to nine PPS throughout the state.
