SHAH ALAM, March 3 — Five departments under the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) are tasked to monitor illegal premises operating in Bukit Sentosa and Bukit Beruntung.

In a statement, its president Mohd Hasry Nor Mohd said the five departments involved are the Enforcement Department, Town Planning Department, Building Department, Valuation and Property Management Department, and Licencing Department.

“MPHS had recently formed a business compliance operations task force to monitor business and industrial premises operating without a licence, including vacant buildings at the said locations.

“Based on the records, a total of 4,807 premises are suspected of operating without business licences, which includes 2,259 in Bukit Sentosa and 2,548 in Bukit Beruntung,” the statement read.

Mohd Hasry said the team is authorised to act if the premise owners do not have a business licence and employ foreign workers.

“Owners who have done building renovations and placed items on the sidewalks of the premises, including breeding swiftlets without permission, could also be subject to action,” he added.

The first phase of the operation began on February 22 in Bukit Sentosa, namely in Jalan Telipot, Jalan Seroja, Seri Pagi, Kamunting, Persiaran Bunga Raya and Jalan Ros.
